Geraniol synthase from Catharanthus roseus

Usage

Catharanthus roseus produces monoterpene indole alkaloids (MIAs). Geraniol synthase catalyzes the transformation of geranyl diphosphate (GPP) into geraniol in the monoterpenoid branch of the MIA pathway.

The sequence of the geraniol synthase from Catharanthus roseus (CrGES) has been taken from Genbank (JN882024.1), adapted for the usage in S. cerevisiae and then truncated to the 43 amino acid in order to increase its activity (Jiang et al., 2017).

Experiments

Team iGEM Toulouse 2020 did not have sufficient time to complete the cloning and hence, to test this part functionality.

Related parts on regisrty

There is another part in registry which corresponds to geraniol synthase (BBa_K2753003). The two main differences with ours are that the sequence originates from Ocimum basilica and that the codons are adapted for the usage in E.coli.
